Quality yarn

The yarns from LANGYARNS are of high quality, as they are based on the very finest textile fibers. The yarns are based on the most valued natural fibers, such as cashmere and mohair yarn.

Mohair yarn

Mohair yarn is from the hair of the Angora goat, but not the Angora rabbit, emphasizes LANGYARNS. Mohair yarn is not only elegant but also durable and strong.

Wool or sock yarn

LANGYARNS' sock yarn is innovative, traceable and sustainable, and their extensive range is of different 4-ply and 6-ply yarns, solid and multicolored, with different fibers such as Corriedale wool, wool with silk or alpaca. In addition, it is also reinforced with fine nylon fibers. Jawoll includes a matching spool of thread to strengthen heels and toes.

Cashmere

The term for cashmere is the long, fine undercoat of about 20 different subspecies of domestic goats. The cashmere hairs are combed out by hand carefully, yielding only 200-380 gray fibers from each animal. This is also why cashmere is one of the most exclusive and expensive fibers, partly because it is so soft and fine.

Mulesing free yarn

The yarn from LANGYARNS is not only of high quality, but it is also sheep-friendly - that is, mulesing free. But what exactly is included under the term mulesing free?

Mulesing is a common practice in Australia and New Zealand that was invented to prevent fly maggot infestation. It involves removing the skin around the tail of the sheep. It was in 2017 that LANGYARNS decided to replace the merino grades they were using with wool from merino sheep that have not been subjected to mulesing.

The amazing history of LANGYARNS

LANGYARNS is a family business that has been around for 150 years and is now run by the 6th generation. Their history starts way back in 1860 when Theodor Lang built a mill on a farm in Reiden, Switzerland. That mill was used to spin cotton. After this, his son Ernst Lang took over the factory in 1890.

After Ernst Lang's death, Erich Lang, son of Ernst Lang, took over the factory in the 1920s. In the 1960s, Ernst H. Lang 2. developed more export markets and now Jakob Lang is the current owner of LANGYARNS.

They say: "...achieving the highest quality and introducing technical innovation in hand-knitted yarns was the goal of LANGYARNS and still is today."
